| |
|
| |
More Capacity per Size of Throat = Greater Quilting Area |
| |
|
By molding the sewing head, we can “sculpture” the shape of the machine’s throat, maximizing its capacity. Coupled with our fabric-handling roller system, these design choices give Gammill machines the largest quilting area of any brand longarm. |
| |
|
| |
Specially Designed Wheels |
| |
|
All of the machine’s carriage wheels are of the finest quality available. The eight contact wheels are constructed of long-lasting nylon material with sealed steel bearings, and require as little as 10-12 ounces of pressure to move the machine. Equally important, they are designed
to fit Gammill’s special track, allowing an effortless “feather-touch” precision and control. Our vertical wheel system gives stability without adding resistance. |
| |
|
| |
Gear/Shaft Power Transfer (direct drive vs. belt drive) |
| |
|
There are two ways to connect the upper and lower shafts for the transfer of power, which is so important to proper timing of a sewing machine. Gammill uses the direct-drive gear/shaft method of power transfer, similar to the drive shaft in an automobile. Our machines use helical gears that have been time-proven
as a reliable, precise drive system. The use of helical gears also reduces vibration and noise. For these reasons, Gammill chooses to use the helical gear drive system, as opposed to the less expensive belt and pulley system. |
| |
|
| |
Cast Aluminum Molded Sewing Head |
| |
|
The advantages of cast aluminum molding versus welding are significant. Molding is very precise method of fabrication; it uniformly produces a strong machine and provides a long, trouble-free life span. |
| |
|
| |
Double-Capacity “M” Style Bobbin |
| |
|
Gammill offers the larger, almost double-capacity bobbin as standard equipment on all our models. The “M” style bobbin, in combination with the exclusive rocking finger technology and intermittent tension (longarm models), allows the operator longer stitching time, while allowing the use of
a wider variety of thread types. |
| |
|
| |
Built-On Bobbin Winder |
| |
|
With the convenient built-on bobbin winder, your next bobbin is wound as you sew, automatically stopping when filled. |
| |
|
| |
Heavy-Duty Steel Shaft Bearings |
| |
|
Gammill’s Classic, Optimum, and Supreme size machines have heavy-duty steel shaft bearings and bushings. Gammill machines have five top shaft supports for added durability (2 roller bearings and 3 steel bushings). |
| |
|
| |
Steel Bushings |
| |
|
Another example of Gammill’s superior industrial quality is the type of bushings used. All needle bar, hopping foot, and hook shaft bushings are made of long-lasting steel, as opposed to the softer brass bushings used by other manufacturers. |
| |
|
| |
Stitch Regulation (Premier Plus, Classic Plus, Optimum Plus and Supreme Plus models) |
| |
|
Our “Plus” model machines can provide the operator relatively consistent stitch-length, whether or not the machine is moved at a consistent speed. In automated mode, stitch regulation allows the operator to focus on their creativity and the pattern, rather than the speed they move the machine --
the machine maintains stitch-length for you! Number of Stitches Per Inch (SPI) is selected at a display panel at either end of the machine, and can be adjusted simply by pushing “+” or “-“ to re-set the desired number of stitches per inch. |
| |
|
| |
Auxiliary Intermittent Tension |
| |
|
Coupled with our special rotary wheel thread tension, this patented intermittent tension adds just the right additional tension at the proper time to form a more perfect stitch. |
| |
|
| |
Automatic Thread Escapement Opener |
| |
|
This technically advanced feature actually reduces the stress on the top thread as it passes through the sewing hook escapement. In simple terms, it allows the use of a wider range of thread types without breaking or fraying. Equally important, it maintains consistent stitch quality regardless of sewing
speed. It works great, and only Gammill has it. |
| |
|
| |
Centralized Lubrication System |
| |
|
Five bearings and one cam are lubricated from one central oil reservoir, a real convenience when servicing the machine. |
| |
|
| |
One-Button Operation |
| |
|
A single button engages your machine to run and to stop – simple but functional. |
| |
|
| |
Molded Multi-Function Gam-Foot |
| |
|
The Gam-Foot was developed to accomplish several important functions: (A) Better visibility of the needle entering the fabric while “stitching in the ditch”, due to its large needle hole and front toe design. (B) The round ½ inch diameter sole permits the operator to use the edge of the
foot as a guide while making the popular ¼ inch allowance for outline quilting. (C) The Gam-Foot’s unique shape permits use of the important Gam-Guide bar while its shielded sides offer protection to the machine’s needle when stitching diagonal straight lines. |
| |
|
| |
Variable Stroke Hopping (dancing) Foot |
| |
|
The hopping foot is one of Gammill’s innovative developments for hand-guided quilting machines. It allows the machine to “walk” rather than slide over seams or thick batting. For the Classic, Optimum, and Supreme size models, we have improved the designed by making its stroke easily adjustable. Now
the operator can select the proper stroke for each quilt, spread, or comforter regardless of thickness. Another patented feature! |
| |
|
| |
Variable Speed Control |
| |
|
If operators choose to operate the machine in manual (non stitch-regulated) mode, they can set the most comfortable sewing speed for each pattern -- regardless of its intricacy, with our Variable Speed Control. Simply use the “+” or “–“ buttons to adjust the needle speed when in
manual mode. |
| |
|
| |
Centrally Located Power & Light Switches |
| |
|
Our machines’ power and light switches are located on top (center) of the machine, so that they are easily accessible from either the front or back of the machine for the operator’s convenience. |
| |
|
| |
Vertical & Horizontal Channel Locks |
| |
|
Electromagnetic locking devices allow for the creation of perfectly straight horizontal and vertical lines for accurate channel quilting, simply by pushing a button. (Note: Vertical Channel Lock is optional on non stitch-regulated models.) |
| |
|
| |
Sewing Head Motors |
| |
|
Gammill’s powerful DC motors are produced to meet rigid requirements by one of the United States’ largest manufacturers of specialty motors. They are installed on top for maximum accessibility and cool running service. |
| |
|
| |
Fluorescent Light |
| |
|
Each machine is equipped with a fluorescent light conveniently located over the stitching area. A black-light tube can be inserted in the fixture when custom pattern quilting is required. There is no blocked view of the machine’s needle by its light fixture or handles. We urge you to compare
needle view with other brands! |
| |
|
| |
No-Glare Light Fixture |
| |
|
All Gammill machine light fixtures are designed to illuminate the stitching area without glaring in the operator’s eyes. There is a definite and noticeable difference in Gammill’s light fixture and some other brands’! |
| |
|
| |
Two-Station Needle Positioner |
| |
|
In sewing, ordinarily, you want the needle to stop in the “down” position, ready for the continuation of quilting. Only when you finish the seam do you want the needle to stop in the “up” position. Gammill’s two-station Electronic Needle Positioner allows the operator
to select either “up” or “down” position simply by pushing a button. Also included is a “single stitch” mode, which can be used to bring the bobbin thread to the top side for trimming, securing the beginning of a seam, and basting. |
| |
|
| |
Thread Trimming Method (for top and bottom) |
| |
|
By simply drawing the bobbin thread up through the top fabric using our Needle Positioner/Single Stitch, both top and bobbin threads can be trimmed simultaneously without leaving tags. This method is preferred by most quilting professionals who find it superior to a mechanical trimmer, which only trims
the underneath thread and leaves tags that must be removed later. |
| |
|
| |
Two-Way Control System with LCD (Liquid Crystal Diode) Display Panels |
| |
|
Gammill is the originator of the Two-Way Control System, which made our quilting machine more versatile for the use of pantograph patterns. Most operators use both sets of handles /controls. One set of handles is conveniently positioned on the needle end of the machine for perfect control and visibility while
outlining or freestyle quilting. A second set of controls is built onto the opposite side of the machine for use when tracing pantograph patterns (or patterns you produce yourself) with the built-on Stylaser. On each end of the machine is an LCD Display Panel, where stitch length is selected and vertical and horizontal
channel locks can be engaged, and quilting (automated or manual) modes are set. |
| |
|
| |
Ergonomically Designed Controls |
| |
|
You will notice all Gammill long-arm quilting machines are equipped with contoured handles vertically positioned for operator use and an excellent view of the quilting area. Our handles are ergonomically designed for the operator’s comfort. |
| |
|
| |
Safeguards |
| |
|
Fuse protection, molded motor belt guards, and take-up lever shields are small items, but important safety features. Just three more examples of Gammill’s thoroughness and attention to detail. |
| |
|
| |
Eccentric Axle |
| |
|
It is important that each corresponding wheel support equal weight for smooth, quiet performance. Adjustable eccentric axles make this possible on the Gammill quilting machine. |
| |
|
| |
Smudge-Free Wheel Track System |
| |
|
The industry’s finest quality track system offers the smoothest feel and the easiest guiding possible. The special nylon wheels make their contact with a molded stainless steel insert, which is recessed into a specially extruded anodized aluminum track form. The use of this anodized
material, combined with the recessed insert design, virtually eliminates the possibility of smudges on your or your customer’s quilt. |
| |
|
| |
Stylaser |
| |
|
Gammill longarm machines come equipped with a laser stylus. A small red dot of light tells the operator exactly where the stylus is pointing. With this additional accuracy, our Stylaser is portable, permitting the Stylaser to be moved to the needle end (front) of the sewing head’s
top arm. When this is done, the operator can duplicate (trace) printed stencil patterns in blocks, circles and corners of quilt tops, without having to draw patterns on the fabric. |
| |
|
| |
Full-Size Pantograph Pattern Shield |
| |
|
All Gammill stands feature a clear pantograph pattern shield, which covers the entire top of the pattern board. Your pantograph patterns may be placed in any position or angle while being protected from damage. |
| |
|
| |
WorkStation (click here for more info) |
| |
|
Another great new tool included with each Gammill longarm quilting machine is called the WorkStation. Perfect circles, ovals, fans and more can be made in a wide range of sizes with the included templates. Optional templates such as Hearts & Stars, Points & Scallops increase the
possibilities even more! |
| |
|
| |
Small-Spool Thread Holder |
| |
|
In those instances when a small spool of thread is used (such as metallic or monofilament), there is a special spool holder on the machine, which will handle the same size spools used on home sewing machines. |
| |
|
| |
All Steel Stand Construction |
| |
|
Gammill offers three styles of quilting stands for Premier, Classic/Optimum and Supreme models. They are constructed of 100% steel and feature a truss design for strength and durability. Steel stands come with a chip resistant power-coated paint finish. |
| |
|
| |
Adjustable Height |
| |
|
All stands are adjustable in height for individual operator comfort and feature heavy-duty levelers. |
| |
|
| |
Adjustable Stitching Area |
| |
|
Model GS-1 stand features an adjustable stitching area to accommodate two sizes of sewing heads (Classic and Optimum and stitch-regulated Plus versions.) |
| |
|
| |
Custom Length Stands |
| |
|
Most Gammill quilting machine stands are produced in standard 12’ and 14’ lengths. However, custom stands may be ordered in any length or height for special needs. |
| |
|
| |
Swivel Casters For Stand |
| |
|
Gammill offers heavy-duty, lockable casters (which also serve as levelers) to make moving the quilter stand very easy for every quilter. |
| |
|
| |
Conveniently Adjustable Pick-Up Roller (GS-1 Stands for Classic Plus and Optimum Plus models) |
| |
|
Our GS-1 steel stand has as standard equipment a revolutionary one-step elevation system for adjusting the fabric pick-up roller. No longer does the operator have to go to both ends of the stand to adjust the pick-up roller height as the quilted fabric accumulates. By simply turning one crank from one position, both ends
of the pick-up roller will raise (or lower) equally. Gammill’s pick-up roller adjustment method is convenient, fast, and accurate. Another important feature of the GS-1 stand is the special fabric carrier roller design, which allows the operator to stand closer to the machine for better use of his or her arm reach,
better visibility, and better control of the machine. (Please see numbers 45 through 50 for additional standard features.) |
| |
|
| |
Model GS-2 Stand (for Supreme, Supreme Plus and Statler Stitcher Supreme) |
| |
|
Model GS-2 stand is specially built to accommodate the Supreme and Supreme Plus, Gammill’s largest sewing heads. This unique, all-steel, heavy-duty stand offers the custom bedspread manufacturer many advantages in convenience and production capabilities. This adjustable height stand also features
the largest underneath batting storage area in the industry. A heavy-duty material fabric advance system and lockable casters (wheels) are also available for the GS-2. |
| |
|
| |
Model PS-1 Stand |
| |
|
Model PS-1 stand is specifically designed for use with the intermediate size Premier and Premier Plus quilting machines. It features many of the advantages of the GS-1 stand: one step pick-up roller adjustment, Pivotal Access feature, adjustable in height, underneath batting storage, flat surface for Gam-Guide usage,
and full-size pattern shield – and allows owners to upgrade to a larger machine head without having to replace their stand. |
| |
|
| |
Heavy-Duty Fabric Handling Rollers |
| |
|
PS-1, GS-1 & GS-2 stands feature steel 2 ½ inch diameter fabric handling rollers supported by commercial pillow-block bearings. These larger rollers are more resistant to bending and bowing than are the smaller rollers used by others. |
| |
|
| |
More Accurate Fabric Tautness |
| |
|
Since proper fabric tautness is so important to the perfect look of your quilted product, each fabric handling roller contains gears with forty-two adjustments (or stops) per revolution for the most precise adjustment possible when providing tautness to the fabric. Improper fabric tautness can cause your quilt
or comforter to be stretched, drawn, or unevenly quilted. So, with this important feature, you can get that perfect quilted look every time. |
| |
|
| |
Torque Wheel Convenience |
| |
|
All three rollers (top fabric, lining, and pick-up) contain large diameter torque wheels, making the loading, advancing, and providing tautness to the fabric much faster, easier, and more convenient. |
| |
|
| |
Continuous Feed of Batting |
| |
|
All relatively compact, Gammill quilting stands have enough space underneath to store large commercial rollers of batting or fiberfill. With this convenient feature, it is now possible to have continuous flow of batting from the storage directly into the quilt or spread without being handled. Of course,
it is still possible to use pre-cut sizes and individually packaged batting, as well. |
| |
|
| |
Pivotal Access |
| |
|
While operating the Gammill from the free-style side, lining and top fabric rollers are arranged so the operator has maximum use of his or her arm reach for controlling the machine and also using the Gam-Guide bars. However, if narrow strips of batting are being used, these rollers may be pivoted for convenience in
adding pieces of batting. Equally important, this pivoting feature allows easy access for adding extra batting for trapunto quilting. (PS-1 & GS-1) |
| |
|
| |
Hemmed Fabric Leaders |
| |
|
All fabric handling rollers are equipped with 10 oz. Canvas leaders to carry material from roller to quilting area. Hemming the leader edges adds strength, so leaders will maintain proper shape and last many times longer than leaders without hems. |
| |
|
| |
Zip-Off Leader Edges For Quick Reload |
| |
|
Optionally available is a leader system with zip-on/zip-off edges. Quilts can be removed and work resumed later without having to un-pin and re-pin the quilt to the canvas leaders! This is just one more Gammill innovation. |
| |
|
| |
Overhead Light Bar |
| |
|
Gammill offers an attractive overhead light bar option for quilters who may need additional lighting in their sewing or quilting room. With 8 handsome shades and long-lasting bulbs instead of harsh fluorescent tube lighting, our light bar is unlike any other currently on the market. (Can be ordered in lower
profile for basements or rooms with low ceilings.) |
| |
|
| |
Hydraulic Height Adjustment |
| |
|
Ideal for quilt shops where operators of various heights operate the machine, our Hydraulic Height Adjustment option allows the stand height to be raised or lowered with just the push of a button. Even for individual operators, the hydraulic height option makes it possible to extend the quilter’s stamina
by slightly adjusting stand height one way or the other, thereby repositioning one’s stance to a “new” and fresh position. |
| |
|
| |
Sit-Or-Stand (SOS) Roller Adjustment |
| |
|
As tight stippling and intricate patterns became increasingly popular, we developed a feature called Sit –Or-Stand (SOS) Roller Adjustment. Stands for Classic size and above models are equipped standard with “SOS”. Rollers are positioned so that a quilter can sit when working from the
needle side of machine. A Drafting Chair and Alignment Mat are also available to facilitate use of the SOS feature. |
| |
|
| |
Motorized Fabric Advance |
| |
|
In addition to the convenient hand-wheel fabric advance system, which is furnished with each PS-1, GS-1 & GS-2 stand, a high-quality fabric advance motor is also available at a competitive price. This heavy-duty motor features a magnetic brake and is reversible. |
| |
|
| |
Selection of Sewing Head Sizes |
| |
|
Gammill offers four sizes of specially designed longarm quilting machines (in non stitch-regulated and stitch-regulated “Plus” versions), and one modified standard industrial size “shortarm” machine for your quilting needs. A quilting machine for every quilting purpose and budget! |
| |
